When should I expect to receive my meals?
After your case manager or health plan has referred you, one of our new member agents will contact you to provide a program overview and set service expectations.
Delivery Timeline:
- Initial Shipment: Meals typically arrive 7-10 days after the referral.
- Subsequent Shipments: These will follow a monthly or bi-monthly schedule, depending on your needs and the authorized meal amount.
Tracking Your Deliveries:
- Members can track their meal shipments using the FedEx tracking app or website. Track your delivery here.
- This tracking tool allows you to monitor the status of your deliveries and plan accordingly.
How are meals delivered?
Meals are delivered nationwide via FedEx, ensuring that Homestyle Direct members can receive their meals regardless of their location, effectively eliminating food deserts. We recommend members download the FedEx app to track their meal deliveries in real-time, providing peace of mind and convenience.
Will I be notified when my meals arrive?
Homestyle Direct meals are delivered through FedEx, which offers multiple notification options, including the FedEx Manager app. This app allows members to track their package from route to doorstep delivery. Track your delivery or download the FedEx Delivery app here.
How do I properly store my meals?
The best place to store your Homestyle Direct meals is in the freezer. Upon receiving your shipment, we recommend placing the meals directly into the freezer to maintain freshness.
Freezer Storage: Meals can be kept in the freezer for up to six (6) months. Each meal package includes a “best by” date stamped on the packaging to ensure quality.
Refrigerator Storage: Meals can also be stored in the refrigerator for up to three (3) days. For a quality meal experience with the freshest, best tasting product, please consume within 3 days of thawing.. You can allow meals to thaw completely in the refrigerator before heating for consumption.
Can I heat meals from frozen?
Yes, meals from Homestyle Direct can be heated from frozen, semi-frozen, or completely thawed state. The heating instructions for both the main meal and side dishes are included with each meal package.
Microwave Instructions: You can heat the meals in the provided three-compartment tray in the microwave.
Oven Instructions: Alternatively, you can heat the meals in the oven for even heating throughout.
Air Fryer: You can also heat the meals in an air fryer, but make sure to remove them from the three-compartment tray first. Avoid placing the tray in the air fryer for safety and quality reasons. Heating times may vary depending on the meal.
Note on Food Safety: Always follow the provided heating instructions on every meal to ensure that meals reach a safe internal temperature. Heating times may vary depending on the meal and appliance used.
How does Homestyle Direct ensure the quality and safety of its meals?
At Homestyle Direct, we are committed to providing high-quality, safe meals to our members. Our comprehensive approach to quality and food safety encompasses every step of our process, from sourcing ingredients to final delivery. We partner with best-in-class manufacturers and distributors, including US Foods, Simplot, and Premier GPO.
Our dedicated Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) team monitors production in real-time and we follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) for food manufacturing and meal assembly. Meals are fast-frozen to -10 degrees in our owned and operated facilities and we partner with FedEx for efficient, temperature-controlled delivery.
By maintaining high standards at every stage of our process and prioritizing member education, Homestyle Direct ensures that our meals are not only nutritious and delicious but also meet the highest standards of quality and food safety.
Should I let my meals thaw before heating?
You have the choice. Homestyle Direct meals can be heated directly from a thawed or frozen state, depending on your preference. Both options are safe and convenient, so it’s up to you whether you prefer to thaw the meal before heating or heat it directly from frozen.
Do I qualify for meals?
To determine if you qualify for Homestyle Direct meals, follow these steps:
Contact Your Health Plan Provider: Reach out directly to your Medicare Advantage or Medicaid health plan provider to check if meal benefits are included in your coverage.
Verify Network Agreement: Ensure that your health plan has a contractual agreement with Homestyle Direct to provide meals to their beneficiaries. You can inquire about this by contacting your health plan or assigned case manager.
Check State Coverage: Homestyle Direct offers meal services to Medicaid recipients in 30 states. You can refer to our interactive map here to see if we serve your state.

How often does Homestyle Direct introduce new menu items?
Every six months, Homestyle Direct updates its menu by adding and removing approximately 10-15 new meals to ensure variety and freshness for our members. Occasionally, we also introduce “specials” between menu cycles and notify members via email of these additions.
We value member input and encourage you to provide feedback on meals. Your suggestions help us refine our offerings and ensure that we continue to meet your dietary preferences and needs.
In addition to meals, Homestyle Direct offers supplements to complement our meals, providing essential vitamins for a balanced diet.
What if I have dietary restrictions or food allergies?
Homestyle Direct accommodates a wide range of dietary restrictions and food allergies to ensure our members receive meals that meet their specific needs.
Accommodations Include:
Special Diets: We offer meal options that cater to specific dietary requirements, such as low-sodium, diabetic-friendly, gluten-restricted and renal-friendly meals.
Allergy Considerations: Each meal package includes a detailed ingredient list, so you can check for any potential allergens.
