As a registered dietitian nutritionist, it is the industry professional practice standard to consider a complexity of factors and resources to review a menu. A variety of guidelines are considered with the ultimate goal of meeting the intent of the Older Americans Act and state and federal requirements for home delivered meals. A combination of the following standards and tools were used to evaluate the adequacy of the menu:

-Dietary Guidelines for Americans – 2015
-Diet patterns following standard serving sizes and food groups
-1/3 of daily Dietary Reference Intakes (DRI) on average
-National Resource Center on Nutrition, Physical Activity and Aging Toolkit
-Genesis R&D Nutritional Analysis Program
-Idaho Diet Manual – 11th Edition – 2015
